Meet Mr. Barnett
Brandon Barnett holds the position of Director of Bands at Charles A. Tindley Accelerated Schools. A native of Indianapolis, he graduated from THEE ILLUSTRIOUS Howard University with a degree in Music Education. During his time at Howard University, Brandon had the opportunity to perform at the White House and the Kennedy Center on multiple occasions. He was privileged to study Bassoon under Tia Wortham of the United States Navy Band, with participation in the Concert Band and Orchestra. He also played the saxophone in the HU Jazz Ensemble and the "SHOWTIME" Marching Band.
An ardent enthusiast of advancing musicianship, Mr. Barnett remains actively engaged in teaching privately and performing with various ensembles in the Indianapolis area. He currently holds membership in Mu Phi Epsilon International Professional Music Fraternity, where he previously held leadership positions at the collegiate level. He is an active President of his alumni chapter and serves as a District Director. Additionally, he is a member of the National Association for Music Education, the Indiana Music Educators Association, the Indiana Bandmasters Association, and the International Double Reed Society.
In his leisure hours, he takes pleasure in activities such as reading, traveling, playing video games, mentoring youth, exploring new places, and cherishing moments with his close family and friends.
