Meet Mr. Barnett

Brandon Barnett serves as the Director of Bands at Charles A. Tindley Accelerated Schools. A proud native of Indianapolis, he is an alumnus of the distinguished Howard University, where he earned his degree in Music Education. During his collegiate career, Mr. Barnett had the honor of performing at the White House and the Kennedy Center on multiple occasions. He studied bassoon under Tia Wortham of the United States Navy Band and participated in both the Concert Band and Orchestra. Additionally, he was an active member of the Howard University Jazz Ensemble and the acclaimed “SHOWTIME” Marching Band, where he performed on saxophone.
 
A passionate advocate for the advancement of musicianship, Mr. Barnett remains deeply involved in both private music instruction and performance with ensembles throughout the Indianapolis area. He is a member of Mu Phi Epsilon International Professional Music Fraternity, where he previously served in collegiate leadership roles and now leads as President of his alumni chapter while also serving as a District Director. His professional affiliations further include the National Association for Music Education, the Indiana Music Educators Association, the Indiana Bandmasters Association, and he is a founding board member of the MidNorth Region of the International Double Reed Society.
 
Outside the classroom and concert hall, Mr. Barnett enjoys reading, traveling, playing video games, mentoring youth, discovering new places, and spending quality time with his family and friends.
 
He looks forward to another outstanding year of musical growth and achievement at Tindley.
