Academics

The Charles A Tindley School is the first school in Indiana to follow the Accelerated Schools model. This model, which you can learn more about here, is designed to empower students through academic rigor and inquiry-based instruction. Other unique aspects of academic life at Tindley include:

Early College (EC)

Upon entering 11th grade, Tindley scholars begin the Tindley Early College program. They take courses from Anderson University faculty and are given freedom to balance their coursework with other activities. Some students even earn enough college credits to enter college as sophomores.

Extended Day (AE)

The accelerated school model requires our scholars to work at twice the pace of students at traditional schools. Therefore, our school day is extended to 4:15 p.m. daily. From 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. Tindley teachers work one-on-one or in small groups with students, giving them the guidance and instruction, they need to be successful within the accelerated model.

Family Involvement

We believe a scholars success is based on both academic preparation and family participation. Therefore, we ask every Tindley family to contribute 50 hours of family service per year (5 hours per month). Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, or adult siblings of the scholar can contribute this service.

The Best Part...

All scholars can attend our school on a space-available basis. Scholars who apply after we have filled all the available spaces will be put on a waiting list until space becomes available.
